Knicks' 7-3 rookie Porzingis wanted to play against Gobert

SALT LAKE CITY — It would have been a matchup of two of the tallest players in the NBA Wednesday night when the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks met at Vivint Arena.

You mean New Yorks’ 7-foot-3 rookie Kristaps Porzingis against Utah’s 7-foot-3 rookie Tibor Pleiss?

Actually, we were talking about Porzingas against Rudy Gobert, who at 7-foot-1 isn’t even among the five tallest players in the NBA this year but probably has the largest wingspan at 7-foot-9.

While Pleiss is in Idaho on reassignment, Gobert is on the inactive list after injuring his knee in practice last week and not expected back until about mid-January at the soonest.
