Last month, Utah Jazz legend Jerry Sloan finally received some hardware to honor the incredible work he did from the sidelines. After failing to capture Coach of the Year honors during his Hall of Fame career despite leading the Jazz franchise to elite status, Sloan received the 2016 Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Basketball Coaches Association.
Now, the man who fought by Sloan’s side for the duration of his 23-year run, former Jazz assistant Phil Johnson, is the recipient of a similar honor.
Johnson was named as the recipient of the inaugural Tex Winter Assistant Coach Lifetime Impact Award.
