Analysis: Did the Jazz win the George Hill trade?

Jeffrey D. Allred, Deseret News

For decades, it seemed, the Utah Jazz had the point guard position figured out.

John Stockton and Deron Williams, to a much lesser extent, were the primary catalysts of the only Jazz teams to legitimately compete for an NBA championship.

But then something happened.

Following Williams’ departure from Salt Lake City in 2011, the Jazz filtered through point guards with hopes of replacing the former All-Star’s production. Devin Harris, Mo Williams and Trey Burke came and went, but Utah’s playmaking void remained.

Cue George Hill.

Acquired in a three-team trade involving the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks before the start of the 2016-17 season, the Jazz adequately filled the point guard hole with Hill — at least temporarily.
