Head coach Krista Gerlich returned to Texas Tech University for the first time in her basketball career Thursday, but this time she was not donning the Lady Raiders jersey.
Instead, her jersey was hanging in United Supermarkets Arena during the Lady Mavericks 79-60 loss.
Junior center Rebekah VanDijk got the game going by downing two points, but the Lady Raiders swiftly responded with a 10-0 run. Texas Tech controlled their home court by limiting the Lady Mavericks to a 28-5 deficit at first quarter's end.
Texas Tech led for 38 minutes and 27 seconds of the game by as much as 26 points.
