With two seconds left on the clock, a buzzer-beating jumper lifted the University of Arkansas to victory against the women's basketball team (1-1) Wednesday at College Park Center.
“I think Arkansas knows that they were in a fight tonight,” head coach Krista Gerlich said after the loss. “I couldn’t be more proud of our team and just how they battled and they didn’t give in and they didn’t hang their head.”
Senior guard Cierra Johnson opened the scoring with a layup to give the Lady Mavericks a 2-0 lead to start the game. After another layup from Johnson, Arkansas went on a 13-0 scoring run to take a 13-4 lead with 5:37 left to play in the first quarter.
