A breakout performance from freshman outside hitter Kylie Jedlicka and a wave of pink fans were not enough to prevent an emotional second consecutive Dig Pink defeat.
The volleyball team lost 3-1 to Texas State University in its annual Dig Pink match Thursday at College Park Center.
The two rivals battled throughout the first set by limiting each other to brief 3-0 runs. UTA won the first set 25-21 after an attack error by Texas State to go ahead 1-0.
Eight Maverick errors gave the Bobcats ammunition for a swift 14-5 advantage. Two second-set kills from Jedlicka sparked a late 5-2 run, but Texas State shut UTA out of a lead and claimed a second-set win.
