The volleyball team’s (20-10, 9-7) season came to an end Thursday night in Utah, following a 3-2 loss to Utah Valley University in the Western Athletic Conference quarterfinals.
It was the second consecutive year the Mavericks fell to the Wolverines in the first round of the conference tournament. UTA finished as the No. 4 seed this year after capturing the No. 5 seed last year, but the regular-season improvement wasn’t enough to propel them past Utah Valley.
After Utah Valley took the first two sets, UTA clawed its way back into the match by winning the third and fourth set.
