On Saturday, the Mavericks were swept for just the third time this season as Arkansas State, the top seed in the conference tournament, advanced to the Sun Belt Volleyball Championship finale.
"They really were efficient tonight," head coach Diane Seymour said. "Just didn't quite have any way to stop them."
In the first set, Arkansas State jumped out to an early lead and was up 15-10 at the media timeout. They forced UTA into timeouts at the 18-10 mark and the 21-12 mark, but the Mavericks failed to rally and dropped the set 25-16.
The Mavericks recovered in the second set by building a 13-8 lead.
