Back from Arkansas, the volleyball team (10-6, 2-2) split its matches over the weekend.
UTA swept the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Friday before being swept by Arkansas State University on Saturday. The Mavericks are tied for second in the West Division of the Sun Belt Conference standings.
Head coach J.T. Wenger said he was impressed with the overall team intensity and the way his middle blockers played over the weekend. He admitted the win against Little Rock wasn’t the cleanest victory, but coming out with a road win is great for the team.
Against Arkansas State, a rocky first set hindered UTA’s chances despite strong second and third sets from the Mavericks, Wenger said.
