Two weeks after J.T. Wenger, former UTA head volleyball coach, resigned to take the reins at Gonzaga University, sophomore outside hitter Sjakkie Donkers followed.

Wenger announced Donkers as his first signee Friday after becoming Gonzaga’s head coach, according to a Gonzaga press release.

“I am excited to add Sjakkie to the Gonzaga volleyball program,” Wenger said in the press release. “She brings a competitive attitude and volleyball acumen that will make an immediate impact. Sjakkie is a great teammate and I'm eager to welcome her to Spokane.”

The reigning Western Athletic Conference co-freshman of the year contributed to UTA’s historic season, clinching a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
