Inside the Maverick Activities Center on Sunday, students, staff and people from around the Metroplex came out to participate in the UTA Table Tennis Open, organized by Vikas Sagi, captain of the Table Tennis Club and industrial engineering graduate student.
The tournament comprised of a preliminary round robin format, where the top two players from each group advance to play in single elimination games and matches were the best out of five sets.
As the Table Tennis Club lacked the necessary funds to compete in tournaments last semester, Sagi said the event was a great way to market the club while raising the money needed for the team to compete at nationals this year.
