The UTA softball team (29-16, 8-13) came determined to break its four-game losing streak in Sunday’s game against the Troy University Trojans (30-20, 11-10).
The Mavericks previously fell to the Trojans in both games Saturday, with scores of 5-4 and 12-2 at Allan Saxe Field.
In the Senior Day game, which would be the final home game for the UTA seniors, the Mavs came through with a 13-12 victory.
The Mavs started with a double to right center field by sophomore second baseman Sandra Mendoza. Mendoza eventually scored with an RBI groundout by freshman first baseman Brianna Burchianti to give UTA a 1-0 first-inning advantage.
