The softball team (14-10, 2-1) rose above the University of Louisiana-Monroe in a 2-1 win through 15 innings of play Sunday at Allan Saxe Field. The game ran for three hours and 20 minutes.
“I’m just really proud of the girls’ fight and their grit and their focus for that amount of time to end up getting the series win,” head coach Kristie Fox said.
With the win, the Mavericks recorded their first conference-series win of the season, defeating the Warhawks two games to one.
“Every team in this conference is really tough,” Fox said “So, when you take the series, that’s a positive.
