After splitting Friday’s doubleheader, the softball team (29-24, 14-13) rallied in extra innings to defeat Texas State University 4-3 on Saturday at Allan Saxe Field, claiming its first series win against the Bobcats since 2011.
“We know we can compete with every team in this conference as long as we show up and handle our business,” head coach Kristie Fox said.
In their regular season finale, the Mavericks celebrated Senior Day, recognizing senior catcher Kacey Everett, senior pitcher Sam Montes, senior infielders Shelbi Sikes and Marisa Datko and senior outfielders Mallory Foster and Calin Sims. The team also recognized Texas State seniors before the game.
