In the second half, senior guard Erick Neal helped lift the men’s basketball team (14-10, 5-6) to an 89-77 victory over Appalachian State University on Thursday at College Park Center.
The first half saw the Mavericks gain one and lose one. Senior forward Julian Harris returned to the court after a six-game suspension, but senior guard Kaelon Wilson exited the game just four minutes into the first half with an unknown injury and was taken to the hospital.
“Once [Wilson] went down, we needed guys to step up,” head coach Scott Cross said.
Cross said Harris, along with senior guards Nathan Hawkins, Mairega Clarke and sophomore guard DJ Bryant did a good job stepping up after Wilson exited the game.
