UTA’s baseball team swings into the season this weekend for the first time under head coach Mike Trapasso. The team will play a three-game series against UT-San Antonio opening 4 p.m. Friday at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Mavericks finished the 2024 season on the losing end of a 34-22 overall record but boasted a winning record in Western Athletic Conference play, finishing 16-15. With Trapasso at the helm, the team looks to revert to winning ways.

Trapasso joined UTA as an assistant coach in 2023 and an already decorated coach at other stops. Trapasso spent nearly two decades as the head coach at the University of Hawaii, where he won national coach of the year in 2006.
