On an overcast Sunday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark, the baseball team (4-5) was unable to find its footing, losing to Wright State University 7-2.
Head coach Darin Thomas said he knows where his team needs to improve going forward in order to close out series like this in a strong way.
“We swung it well the first two days,” Thomas said. “I don’t think we swung it well today.”
After allowing four runs in the top of the first inning, the Mavericks quickly found themselves in a hole.
UTA trailed 4-0 in the third inning, but a solo home run by senior outfielder RJ Williams brought the Mavericks within three runs.
