A chilly crowd at Clay Gould Ballpark saw the baseball team win its home opener Wednesday night against the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
UTA jumped out to an early lead and benefited from strong pitching performances to notch a 10-2 win over the Golden Lions.
The Mavericks offense started hot on a cold night and piled it on as the game progressed. UTA scored runs in five out of the eight innings the team batted.
Sophomore outfielder David Renning led the way with a 2-3 night, knocking in three RBIs. Junior catcher Andrew Miller scored three runs himself and junior first baseman Dylan Paul added an RBI triple.
