UTA women’s basketball (14-11, 9-5) suffered its first home loss of the season at the hands of Western Athletic Conference-leading Grand Canyon University (26-2, 13-0) 72-59 on Thursday at College Park Center.
The Lady Mavericks were off to a good start defensively, causing several turnovers from the Antelopes. However, UTA was unable to overcome a rough half beyond the arc, going 0-8 in 3-pointers during the first half.
Despite shooting troubles, UTA only trailed 32-28 at halftime. Fifth-year forwards Koi Love and Avery Brittingham led with a combined 18 points in the half.
