UT Arlington men’s basketball blocks out UTU, 73-71

UTA men’s basketball (11-11, 4-4) extended its winning streak to four games, defeating Utah Tech University (6-16, 2-5) 73-71 on Saturday at College Park Center.

Decked out in all-black threads to mark the start of Black History Month, the Mavericks dealt with adversity early in the first half. Points were hard to come by, including a four-minute stretch without scoring a single point.

UTU’s zone defense blocked UTA’s offense, forcing many difficult, end-of-the-shot-clock attempts.

“We didn’t come out like we wanted to, once again, but we kept fighting,” head coach KT Turner said. He was happy with how the team fought this week despite players being out due to injury or sickness.
