The volleyball team (11-9, 3-5) fell to the University of South Alabama 3-1 on Friday at College Park Center.
UTA’s recent losing slump has seen the team drop four of its last five matches in Sun Belt Conference play. Head coach J.T. Wenger said the team gave away too many points in the contest. Despite the Mavericks edging the Jaguars in kills, 54 to 51, UTA committed 27 attack errors to hand South Alabama points that proved costly.
Wenger said he changed UTA’s attack to a 6-2, meaning they had two players in the back court while having all other players as an attacking option, in response to South Alabama’s offensive tactics.
