The UTA softball team (12-9) will host its Sun Belt Conference opener against the University of Louisiana at Monroe on Saturday and Sunday at Allan Saxe Field.
The opening series will start off with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, then conclude with a game at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
“I’m excited because we always play [ULM] with good and high competition and high energy,” senior infielder Shelbi Sikes said. “It will be a really good game to get us going this year, to get us rolling in to conference.”
Since 2002, the Mavericks have a 19-7 record against ULM, outscoring the Warhawks 100-71 in that span.
