UTA athletes and alumni closed out the 2016 Paralympics Sunday in Rio de Janeiro.
The U.S. Women’s Wheelchair Basketball team defeated Germany and took home the gold, aided by Lady Movin’ Mavs sophomores Rose Hollermann, Abby Dunkin and alumna Darlene Hunter.
UTA alumni Aaron Gouge and Mike Paye helped the U.S. Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team win the gold medal match against Spain.
Women’s Wheelchair Basketball
The U.S. Women’s Wheelchair Basketball team defeated Brazil 66-35 in the quarterfinal Tuesday. Hollermann led the team with 28 points and eight rebounds.
The team advanced to the gold medal match after an 89-78 semifinal win over Great Britain Thursday.
