The Movin’ Mavs (19-3) defeated the Edinboro Fighting Scots (10-21) in the first round of the National Invitational Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.
The Movin’ Mavs were without senior Andreas Kraft because of a health issue. The Mavs came out of the gate struggling, but freshman Fabian Romo stepped up in Kraft’s place. He scored 11 points, the second-highest for the Movin’ Mavs.
“When they had someone open, they shot really well,” head coach Doug Garner said about the Fighting Scots’ start to the game. “Fabian Romo and the freshmen really stepped up.”
Junior Jan Gans set the tone in the first half with a double-double, scoring 17 points with 11 rebounds.
