For the second time this season, the men’s basketball team lost on the road after holding a first-half lead.
The men’s basketball team fell to the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles 85-72 Wednesday at Alico Arena.
UTA finished the first half with a 44-31 lead but went cold from the floor in the second half. The Mavericks shot 60 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from 3-point range in the first half.
The Mavericks fell behind 70-60 with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter but later cut the deficit to four. Florida Gulf Coast finished the game on a 9-0 run in the final two minutes to run away with the win.
