A bus ride from Texas to Alabama presents a number of options.
On Feb. 21, the men’s track and field team used its trip to the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, as an opportunity to come together.
“We played Yu-Gi-Oh!” sophomore sprinter Erik Martinsson said. “Little things like that, you get to know people even more than you already do.”
Martinsson placed fourth in the 400-meter race, and he immediately followed that by winning the 800-meter race with a time of 1:51.41.
Head coach John Sauerhage said Martinsson pulling double duty for the Mavericks was crucial, but Martinsson was motivated to do whatever he could to help his team.
