The volleyball team defeated Dallas Baptist University 4-0 in an exhibition match to start its season Friday at College Park Center.
Senior middle blocker Madison Hill said the exhibition game helped newcomers to ease their nerves and get more comfortable with the team. Hill led the Mavericks with 11 kills, hitting them in 17 attacks.
“We had a bunch of different hitters at all parts of the net, so that was real refreshing to have,” Hill said of the Mavericks’ offense.
Outside hitters freshman Devon Martinka and senior Petra Manderson each finished with seven kills.
Freshman defensive specialist Alli Wells finished her debut with seven assists and five digs.
