The Mavericks will have to power up defensively Thursday to break their three-game losing streaks.
The Mavs (14-6, 5-4) dropped their third consecutive game, 90-75, Saturday against University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns. UTA trailed behind for most of the game and fell into foul trouble.
UTA’s defensive performance went on a decline after sophomore forward Kevin Hervey, UTA’s top rebounding player, tore his ACL. Hervey’s 6-foot-7 height and 7-foot-3 wingspan aided the Mavericks defensive performance. Head coach Scott Cross is determined to strategically coach the Mavericks into adjusting to a new defensive routine and build confidence.
