Regardless of a tough conference ahead of them, the UTA track and field team didn’t slow down this weekend.
The men and women from the track and field team opened their season Friday at the Texas A&M Team Invitational, and the men took first place and women second.
Sam Houston State proved challenging to both squads. But the UTA men prevailed, placing first with a 40-point advantage. The women, however, fell short, finishing 52 points behind the Bearkats.
“We had a good first meet. A lot of our new people performed well, as well as our upperclassmen returnees,” head coach John Sauerhage said.
