NEW ORLEANS – The Troy Trojans outrebounded the Lady Mavericks 64-30 and advanced to the Sun Belt Championship with an 88-59 win Saturday at Lakefront Arena, ending UTA’s winningest season in program history.
“From the tip, they set the tone,” head coach Krista Gerlich said. “We tried really hard to convince our kids not to try to play their game.”
UTA shot 29 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from behind the 3-point line. Gerlich said she was disappointed the Lady Mavericks didn’t follow their game plan.
“We really have to work the ball and execute our offense and we struggled with that all night long,” she said.
