The women’s basketball team (21-6, 13-3) survived an early hiccup to dominate the University of South Alabama with a 72-51 win Thursday at College Park Center.
Earlier in the day, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (16-10, 12-3) walloped Georgia Southern University 80-51 to stay on UTA’s heels in a close race for the Sun Belt Conference’s top spot.
Head coach Krista Gerlich said with UTA currently on top of the standings, the team embraces being the ones who are chased down.
"We like that pressure, and we want that pressure,” she said. “It’s a place that this program hasn’t been before, and we want to create a culture and a habit of being at the top.
