The women’s basketball team (20-6, 12-3) jumped to the top of the Sun Belt Conference standings after its 60-56 overtime win against the University of Louisiana Monroe over the weekend.
Head coach Krista Gerlich said it was a huge win and the team is excited to be in a position to win the regular season conference title.
Saturday’s win put the Lady Mavericks at 20 wins for the season, the second time Gerlich has accomplished this feat in her tenure as head coach.
“20 by no means is our cap,” Gerlich said. “It’s a great accomplishment and speaks volumes for what this team has already done.
