The women’s basketball team tipped off its season with an exhibition game against Texas Woman’s University on Monday night at College Park Center.
Head coach Krista Gerlich said she believes the exhibition helped the team prepare before its first regular season game.
“It just got us under the lights in front of our crowd,” Gerlich said. “We got everybody some playing time, so I think they were able to maybe shake off some first game nerves.”
The Lady Mavericks overcame a slow start to finish first quarter with a 21-7 lead. Freshman guard Terryn Milton led the team in scoring with five points.
