Two seconds separated the men’s basketball team (9-13, 5-6) from extending its win streak against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on Thursday at College Park Center.
UTA held a 65-63 lead with two seconds left in regulation before junior forward Dou Gueye hit a 3-point buzzer-beater to win the game.
The shot closely resembled that of Christian Laettner in the famous 1992 NCAA Tournament game between Duke University and the University of Kentucky. Gueye, like Laettner, took the ball off an inbound pass, faked right and buried his shot to give the Ragin’ Cajuns a 66-65 win.
