Spring practice is a time to experiment and USC intends to let cornerbacks Jack Jones and Keyshawn Young practice at wide receiver, perhaps in roles similar to star player Adoree Jackson.
There is one huge difference, however, before making any comparisons. Jackson was an immediate contributor at cornerback his freshman season and allowed only one touchdown. Jones was inconsistent in small role last season while Young also played sparingly.
Last season, Jackson’s offensive role was reduced early to “concentrate” on defense, according to USC coach Clay Helton. With Jones and Young unproven as cornerbacks, it will be interesting to see how they are used during spring practices.
