WOLF: USC offense lacks explosiveness even in blowout

LOS ANGELES >> USC coach Clay Helton is proud to be bland but he never said it was OK for the Trojans’ offense to be boring.

After blowing out Utah State 45-7 on Saturday at the Coliseum and getting routed by Alabama 52-6, there is a trend emerging with the offense: It lacks explosiveness.

The Trojans put up points, but it takes a lot of work to do it. That should never be the case when you feature All-American wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and a talented duo at tailback (Justin Davis, Ronald Jones).

But the offense plodded to points against Utah State.
