USC got off to another slow start Sunday, but Utah was not about to blow a big lead like Colorado did on Wednesday night.
Utes forward Jakob Poeltl scored 29 points and made 11 of 13 shots as the Utes easily defeated the Trojans, 80-69, before 7.931 at the Galen Center. The Trojans suffered their first home loss after a school-record 15-0 start.
It was only the third time USC scored fewert than 70 points in a game. Jordan McLaughlin led USC (19-8, 8-6) with 20 points while Julian Jacobs and Bennie Boatwright each scored 17.
This game was supposedly a near-sellout, but the student section was not full behind the basket and nearly empty on one side of the upper deck.
