LOS ANGELES – This is Greg Townsend Jr.’s chance to to shine. It must be, because it’s his final chance.
“It’s like all of us; our only enemy is time,” defensive line coach Chris Wilson said.
That’s not necessarily true for Townsend, who has stood at USC longer than several campus buildings. The fifth-year senior has dealt with frequent illness and injuries since 2011. Whenever it seemed Townsend might be ready to crack the Trojans’ defensive-line rotation, his body betrayed him.
Given a final opportunity, one last season, to do it right, Townsend has been on the right track during fall camp.
