TORONTO – USC junior Andre De Grasse sprinted to gold in the men’s 100-meter dash at the Pan American Games on Wednesday night.
The 20-year-old from Markham, Ont., ran a time of 10.05 seconds in the final in front of a packed stadium of his hometown fans.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete at home in front of relatives and friends,” De Grasse said. “I feel like I’ve got my first senior national medal, and at home, so that’s a great feeling.”
Ramon Gittens of Barbados finished second (10.07) and Antoine Adams of Saint Kitts and Nevis took the bronze (10.
