LOS ANGELES >> For the second straight practice, Steven Mitchell emerged as a favorite target for the first-team offense and seemed to have an admirer in Clay Helton.
The coach again praised the junior receiver, who hauled in a handful of deep passes Saturday night as the Trojans concluded their third workout of training camp.
“He’s treating every day like it’s a game,” Helton said.
Last season, Mitchell was USC’s second leading receiver, as he caught 37 passes for 335 yards and four touchdowns.
His presence was made known with JuJu Smith-Schuster limited after he sprained his toe on Friday.
