LOS ANGELES – USC quarterback Cody Kessler has worked with three centers through eight games. He might have another major adjustment to make.
Leading receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster did not practice Tuesday after undergoing surgery on his right hand Monday. His status for USC’s homecoming game against Arizona on Saturday is in doubt.
Kessler has relied heavily on one go-to receiver the past two seasons. Last year, 33 percent of his completions (104 of 315) went to Nelson Agholor. This year, 29.3 percent (51 of 174) have gone to Smith-Schuster.
If Smith-Schuster can’t play, the key for Kessler is “to really trust his guys – really trust what they do and their ability to get open,” USC interim coach Clay Helton said.
