LOS ANGELES — The Figueroa corridor by USC is dotted with its fair helping of fast-food restaurants.
Zach Banner drives along here every day to his off-campus apartment and of course notices.
“It’s horrible,” he laughs.
The options had long been enticing, ever since he arrived as a freshman in 2012.
There is Ono Hawaiian BBQ that sits in a strip mall. Banner is Chamorro on his mom’s side of the family. She is from Guam, so the place offers a little bit of home.
He also frequented El Huero, known as Chanos until two years ago, a Mexico stop known for its late-night offering of carne asada nachos, fries and more.
