Former USC assistant coach Norm Chow used to get a kick out of the way then-coach Pete Carroll stressed out the nights leading up to Signing Day, worried if he would have enough scholarships for every recruit he wanted to sign.
Chow would console Carroll by telling him there was never a year when USC actually ran out of scholarships.
Current USC coach Clay Helton might have the reverse problem for this year’s Signing Day. USC has seven scholarships available, and at this point it is debatable whether there are enough recruits to fill them. Remember all the complaints about NCAA sanctions keeping USC from signing a full class?
