USC men’s basketball program gets 2-year probation

After an entertaining run to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, the USC Trojans were given a two-year probation period and fined as a result of the FBI probe into former associate coach Tony Bland.

The amount of the fine is $5000, plus 1 percent of the team’s budget. USC agreed to self-imposed sanctions as part of the punishment. Here are the terms the school and NCAA agreed to.

  • A reduction of men’s basketball scholarships by a total of two during the 2018-19 academic year.
  • A reduction of men’s basketball official visits to 20 during the 2018-19/2019-20 rolling two-year period.
