USC men’s basketball falls victim to 3-point flu against Oregon

LOS ANGELES — Naismith didn’t do it this way and neither did Wooden or Newell, but college basketball is a marginalized game these days, played in the DMZ between the foul circles.

If you come down with the 3-point flu, you’re going to bed with a fever, muscle aches and a loss. Especially if you’re trying to knock off the nation’s fifth-ranked team, which was USC’s intent on Saturday night.

The Trojans were shooting square basketballs throughout this 81-70 loss to Oregon, missing 21 of 27 3-point shots.

That’s 1 for 9 for Bennie Boatwright, 2 for 6 for Elijah Stewart, 1 for 5 for Shaqquan Aaron and 0 for 3 for Jonah Matthews.
