USC point guard Julian Jacobs missed Sunday’s game against Yale with tendinitis in his left Achilles. This was significant because Jacobs leads USC in assists, is second in rebounds and has the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the Pacific-12 Conference.
But this is a good time to take a day off because the Trojans are in the midst of the soft part of their home schedule, a five-game homestand that includes Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, not to be confused with the real Southern Illinois known to 99 percent of sports fans.
The Trojans survived without Jacobs and defeated Yale, 68-56, before 4,117 at the Galen Center.
