USC, Max Browne ready to finally start against No. 1 Alabama

The last time Max Browne started a football game was almost four years ago.

Browne lined up in the Tacoma Dome in the south Seattle suburb as he capped a perfect 2012 season for Skyline High in the Class 4A Washington state championship game.

Then the former top-ranked prep quarterback toiled for three seasons at USC as the backup behind Cody Kessler.

“It’s a long, long time,” Browne said.

His long-awaited first start for the Trojans comes Saturday against defending national championship Alabama at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“I’m sure it’ll be a lot of jitters, a lot nerves, but at the end of the day, a lot of excitement,” Browne said.
