USC football paid the price for their 41-31 loss to Stanford Saturday at the Coliseum by taking a double-digit tumble in both the AP and coaches poll.

In the AP, the Trojans dropped from No. 6 to No. 19, yet remain ranked ahead of the the Cardinal, who were boosted to No. 21.
In the coaches poll the fall was only slightly less steep. Beginning the weekend at No. 7, USC slid to No. 18 also ahead of No. 24 Stanford.
USC entered Pac-12 play with plenty of confidence after two blow out victories over Sun Belt opposition in the opening weeks of the season.
