After Wednesday’s lively full-pads, live-tackling practice, USC football returned on Thursday with a shift in approach.
“After three days of pads, we kind of went through some situational mastery to get prepared for a scrimmage on Saturday, which will be a great evaluation tool for us,” head coach Clay Helton said after Thursday’s helmets-jerseys-and-shorts practice on Howard Jones Field.
The Trojans practiced in shells on Monday and Tuesday before going full pads on Wednesday. Taking a day to step back the physicality but ramp up the schematic understanding was all about making the most out of Saturday’s practice.
