USC Football: Joseph Lewis takes plea deal, avoids domestic violence trial

On the verge of trial, suspended USC wide receiver Joseph Lewis took a plea deal on Wednesday afternoon, per J. Brady McCullough of the LA Times.

Lewis was accused of domestic violence back in February and faced five misdemeanor charges as a result. Though he initially rejected the deal, he changed his mind this week.

The plea involved him pleading no contest to two counts of domestic battery:

“As part of the deal, Lewis was sentenced to 36 months summary probation; 60 days in county jail; a 10-year ban on owning, using or possessing firearms; enrollment in a weekly yearlong domestic violence treatment program and a protective order that prohibits him from approaching within 100 yards of the victim or contacting her.
